Prohibited and Restricted Businesses
SynaPay is built for legitimate businesses that sell real products and services. To keep our platform, our customers and our payment partners safe, some types of business cannot use SynaPay at all, and others need our approval first. This list is not exhaustive, and we may update it at any time.
Prohibited
You may not use SynaPay to accept payments for, or in connection with:
- Illegal products or services, or anything that infringes another person’s rights, including counterfeit or stolen goods and pirated content.
- Weapons, ammunition and explosives; illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia; and unregulated or unlawful controlled substances.
- Pyramid or Ponzi schemes, multi-level marketing that rewards recruitment over product sales, and “get rich quick” or guaranteed-income programmes.
- Adult content and services involving sexual material.
- Money laundering, terrorist financing or sanctions evasion, and dealings with persons or places subject to applicable sanctions.
- Unlicensed money transmission, unlicensed lending, or other regulated financial services offered without the licences the law requires.
- Cryptocurrency mixing or anonymising services, and initial coin or token offerings.
- Fraudulent, deceptive or abusive activity, including fake stores, misleading offers, identity theft and card testing.
- Any business that SynaPay or its payment partners reasonably decide poses an unacceptable risk of loss, fraud or reputational harm.
Restricted (approval required)
These businesses may be allowed only after we review them and only if they hold the licences and registrations that apply to them:
- Gambling, betting and games of chance.
- Regulated financial services, including investment, brokerage, foreign exchange and crypto asset services.
- Travel services, ticket resale and event ticketing.
- Pharmacies, supplements, tobacco, vaping and alcohol.
- Subscription and trial offers with recurring billing.
- Debt collection, credit repair and similar services.
What happens if a business breaks these rules
We may decline an application, suspend payments or payouts, hold funds while we investigate, close an account, or report activity to the relevant authorities and payment partners.
